Description: "Khojak tunnel. Through the Khwaja Amran range of mountains 6,398 feet above the sea level, the Khojak tunnel, which was begun in April 1888 and completed in September 1891, forms a valuable adjunct to the many miles of communication on the frontier. Skilled European miners were employed in the construction of this important work which cost over sixty lakhs of rupees. After passing through the tunnel, which is 2 1/2 miles long, the Railway zig-zags in serpentine curves until Chaman is reached, a distance of some fifteen miles ; but beyond the typical rugged cliffs and steep precipices there is nothing of striking interest to be seen on the way to the boundary terminus."
